- EIA-861 and WAPA MIR Compliance Reporting (Due April 30th, 2023)
- IAMU will be assisting Electric members with compliance reporting who must complete the EIA-861 long form for the calendar year 2022. IAMU is assisting municipal electric utilities with completing the Schedule 6 A&B portion of the EIA 861 report. This section of the report covers the utility's Demand Side Management (DSM) activities; this includes both energy efficiency programs and load management programs. Note: This is for Schedule 6 A&B of the EIA-861 only: your utility must complete the rest of the EIA-861.
- Last year IAMU sent out data request forms for this compliance report and the WAPA MIR around March 22nd. This year in an effort to ensure that all compliance reports are completed in time, we will send out these data request forms in the beginning of March.
- If you have any questions – please contact jgorrie@iamu.org.
Compliance reporting season is in full swing. There are a number of compliance reports due in January and the coming months. IAMU recommends that the employee at your electric or gas utility that does compliance reporting bookmark and regularly check the IAMU Electric Regulatory Calendar, and the Gas Regulatory Calendar. If you have an electric or gas compliance reporting question, please contact Jeff Gorrie – jgorrie@iamu.org

On December 28th, 2022 the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) proposed new energy-efficiency standards for three categories of distribution transformers to improve the resiliency of America’s power grid, lower utility bills, and significantly reduce domestic carbon-dioxide (CO2) emissions. DOE’s proposal represents a strategic step to advance the diversification of transformer core technology, which will conserve energy and reduce costs.
IAMU projects this Notice of Proposed Rulemaking will mainly affect transformer manufacturers/distributers, but given that electric utilities are the main consumer of this technology, It will affect electric members in a roundabout way. Do the Iowa Worker’s Compensation laws and the OSHA recording regulations overlap? What does the OSHA log have to do with employee medical records? Learn more about the latest happenings in the industry and network with others during this much anticipated yearly event. The annual Legislative Reception is also planned for this time, taking place on March 1 at Ken’s – a not so speakeasy, in Des Moines’ East Village. Mark the dates on your calendar. Registration will open closer to the event date. This year’s keynote speaker, who will kick off the Energy Conference’s first full day (March 2) – is Kent Stock. Teacher, coach, principal, husband, banker, parent, and powerful speaker, Kent is also the man who coached the 1991 Norway High School baseball team during their now-famous final season. As depicted in the 2007 film The Final Season, the nationally recognized Norway baseball team came together under inauspicious circumstances. They defied the odds under Kent’s leadership to win Norway’s 20th state title. To learn more about Kent, check out this video.
