It’s that time of year again! Time to review your OSHA 300 log entries for accuracy and post the completed and certified 300A form. Make sure that each 300 log entry has a corresponding 301 form that has the required information entered. Effective January 1, 2024, OSHA will require establishments with 100 or more employees in certain high-hazard industries to electronically submit information from their Form 300 Log of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses, and Form 301 Injury and Illness Incident Report to OSHA once a year. These submissions are in addition to submission of Form 300A-Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses.
These are the specific NAICS codes that have the potential to affect a limited number of Iowa’s municipalities. Remember, you must enter all 300 and 301 information in the electronic recordkeeping system with 100 or more employees in that specific NAICS:

Courageous Leadership – Living a Life of Influence Whether you’re a Kansas City Chiefs fan or not, you’ll enjoy Dan Meers as he shares his unique wit and wisdom about life. On November 23, 2013, Dan Meers came within inches of losing his life while practicing a bungee jump and zip line stunt at Arrowhead Stadium... home of the Kansas City Chiefs. The stunt went terribly wrong and Dan plummeted 75 feet before crashing into the stadium seats. Miraculously Dan survived. During this powerful presentation Dan shares his incredible story and the important lessons that he learned during his long road to recovery about leadership and about life. Iowa DOT and its partners have released a notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) that will be used to disburse federal National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) formula funds within the state. The NOFO documents and related materials are on Iowa DOT’s dedicated Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Deployment Plan website: https://iowadot.gov/iowaevplan The NOFO will be used to disburse Iowa’s share of federal NEVI funds and will support the roll-out of EV charging infrastructure within Iowa. Applications are due on March 13, 2024; with notice of awards anticipated approximately 120 days later. Applicants can submit questions to Iowa DOT; questions will be answered on a rolling 45-day window, with answers posted weekly. Nominations are now being accepted for the 2024 IAMU Broadband Vanguard Award. The Broadband Vanguard Award recognizes individuals or organizations that have played a vital role in the promotion and advancement of municipal broadband in Iowa.
Past Broadband Vanguard Award winners are: 2018 Bob Borchers, formerly of Hawarden Municipal Utilities Ivan Webber, formerly of Ahlers Law Cedar Falls Utilities 2019 Julie Smith, former IAMU legislative liaison Larry Butler, Oak Hill Consulting Sal Lobianco, former General Manager of MPW 2020 Bob Haug, former IAMU Executive Director Osage Municipal Utilities 2021 and 2022 No awards Nominations will be accepted until 5pm on December 29, 2023.
